Frontpage Tenants Final cleaning

The tenant must always carry out a final cleaning before handing the keys back.

After the final cleaning there must be no obvious stains on the apartment surfaces, the cupboards must be clean and the apartment should have a clean smell. The final cleaning will not be a big job if you have kept the apartment clean throughout your tenancy. The purpose of this cleaning is not to remove only loose dirt but also any stains and ingrained dirt that has accumulated during your tenancy.

The level of cleanliness will be checked during the inspection. If you skip the final cleaning, Hoas has the right to bring in a cleaner at your expense. If the cleaning of the common areas in a shared apartment has been neglected when a tenant moves out, the cleaning bill will be shared between all tenants.

  1. Empty all cabinets. All cabinets/wardrobes and their doors and tops must be cleaned.
  2. Wipe stains off the walls and doors. Remember to also wipe light switches.
  3. Clean the exhaust air vents.
  4. Clean the cooking range and the oven properly. If necessary, pull the range out of its slot and clean the side walls and the floor. Wipe the range hood and wash the hood filter.
  5. Defrost the freezer and clean both the freezer and the refrigerator. If you don’t turn the refrigerator back on after cleaning, leave the refrigerator door open a little, so that it won’t start to smell.
  6. Wash the toilet, bathroom and sauna floors and walls and if necessary, wipe the ceiling clean. Also wipe all bathroom fixtures like the toilet seat, sink, mirror cabinet and taps. Also remember to wipe the bottom of the sink and the foot of the toilet seat, as they tend to get grimy over time.
  7. Clean the floor drain in the bathroom.
  8. Wash the windows (if the outdoor temperature is below zero, only wash the inside surfaces of the windows).
  9. Sweep or vacuum the floors and wipe them with a damp cloth or mop.
  10. Empty and sweep the balcony and your storage space.
