How to apply for a roomie apartment

Hoas Matchie helps in finding a roommate. From there it is also possible to find people who already live in a Hoas roomie apartment and are looking for a new roommate for a vacated room. When applying for a roomie apartment you can state whether you accept roommates of a different gender.

There are three ways to apply for a roommate apartment:

  1. Apply for an apartment with a friend you have found through Hoas Matchie
  2. Apply for an apartment with a friend you already know
  3. Apply for a room vacated in a roommate apartment

Thus, you can apply for a room in a roomie apartment with a new friend or a friend you already know. You have also the choice of applying for a room vacated in a roomie apartment. Everyone applying for a roomie apartment leaves an own application.

If you are applying for an apartment with a friend found through Hoas Matchie, you shall each complete an own application. Choose in the application that you are applying with a friend, and enter the code received from the Hoas Matchie in the reserved field.

Similarly, if you are applying for a roomie apartment with a friend you already know, each applicant shall complete their own housing application. However, decide who will leave the application first. This is important, as the first applicant uses the application to create a unique code for you to apply for a roomie apartment together. When you have all left your applications, the unique code in your applications can be used to connect you together.

If you are applying for a room vacated in a roomie apartment, leave your own housing application. If you already know about a room to be vacated in a Hoas roomie apartment, state the names of your roommates-to-be in the additional field of the application. You can also apply alone for rooms vacated in roomie apartments.

If you have found your friend elsewhere, you can create your own unique code with the “generate code” function of the apartment application. Here’s what you should do:

  • The first person to leave an application creates a unique code for you, the code will be used to connect your applications together
  • Please note the code consists of both lower and upper case letters.
  • The first applicant should give the code to the others immediately so that they can leave their applications, too.
  • The other applicants leave their applications, choosing “I am applying with a flatmate” and using the same code in the reserved field.

If your criteria don’t meet at all, it is possible Hoas has no roomie apartments that suit your needs to offer to you. Therefore it is good to discuss with the other applicants before leaving a housing application.

If you are the first applicant, create the unique code for you using your application. Remember to write the code down and give it to the other applicants. This way Hoas knows to connect your applications.

Each applicant gets an e-mail confirmation when their application has been accepted.

You can only have one pending roomie apartment application. Therefore, if you want to apply with a new friend, you can use the updating form to tell the name of the new friend. Please let your friend know if you decide to alter your application. If you already have a pending apartment application, you can use the updating form to update your application.
