What is security deposit?

The deposit is a guarantee for Hoas in the event that the tenant does not pay the rent or other fees, or they damage the apartment. Please note, that the deposit cannot be used to pay for the last month’s rent, and you cannot use it while the tenancy agreement is in effect.

In the apartment offer is a link to the applicant online service where you can accept the housing offer and pay the deposit and advance rent. The offer states the due date for the offer as well as deposit and advance rent.

  • Log into applicant online service
  • Accept the apartment offer
  • You’ll se buttons for deposit and possible advance rent payments
  • Move on to the payment service and follow the service providers’ instructions to finish the payment

You can pay the deposit through Finnish online banking, Visa or Mastercard card payments, or MobilePay, Pivo, or Siirto payment applications.

If you want to apply for the deposit to be paid by Kela, please contact Hoas and Kela to check the current procedure.

International bank transfer fees

Please note that it is your responsibility to take care of any charges for international transactions, so you should add them to the amount to be paid. Any added costs will reduce the amount received by Hoas. Please contact your own bank directly for more information about the bank fees.
