Applying for Hoas exchange student apartment

When to apply?

We accept exchange student housing applications twice a year. Application periods start at 12 pm.

Application periods:

  • 1st of April (for autumn semester)
  • 1st of October (for spring semester)

How to apply?

Submit the exchange student apartment application after the application period start date. Please note that you can only have one active application at a time.

You can apply for more than one type of apartments with the one application. When you want to apply for different types of apartments, choose the ones you would like to apply for, and then list them in order of priority to you on the additional information field of the form.

When you fill the apartment application form, make sure that your contact details are correct and up to date. Use an email address that you check regularly and make sure that Hoas is in your safe senders list so our messages don’t go into your spam mail folder. If you have given us incorrect contact details and don’t get an offer in time or at all because of that, Hoas is not obligated to offer you another apartment.

How to apply together?

You can apply for a shared studio with your partner or a friend. Shared studios are rented for two people who have the same exchange period length. Both of you need to submit your own application. Enter the name of your co-applicant in the form so we know your desired roommate.

If you are a couple, only one of you needs to be an exchange student to apply for a shared studio. However, the couples where both applicants are students have a priority over the couples with only one exchange student.

On what basis are the apartments rented?

We aim to find a housing solution that supports your studies. Our main criterion for offering apartments is the information we receive from your school. We also consider the order of the application submission date, so we recommend that you apply for apartment sooner rather than later.

What happens after I have submitted the application?

You will receive a confirmation email that we have received your application. This is not a guarantee that you will get an apartment.

We’ll check your study details and list of approved exchange students we have received from your school. By submitting an application, you agree to Hoas checking your details. If we find you an apartment, you’ll get an housing offer by email. We offer apartments twice a year: in June-July (for autumn semester) and mid-November – mid-December (for spring semester).

Register to use our online services

Register to use our online services after you have submitted the application. If we can send you a housing offer, you can see the information of the offered apartment in the applicant online service.

Your application for exchange student apartment is valid for four months after you have filled it. You can edit your application in applicant online service.
