Executive committee and housing division

The executive committee is tasked with outlining the issues to be discussed at board meetings, such as the business plan, budget, housing production and acquisitions, and wide-range planning of operations, as authorised by the board of directors.

The housing division’s task is to monitor, control and prepare within the framework of the authority assigned to it by the board of directors:

  • Track, monitor and prepare matters concerning the upkeep and maintenance of properties and the preparation and execution of the maintenance and acquisition budget.
  • Prepare proposals for the maintenance and acquisition budget as well as for the rent to be collected.
  • Monitor and develop tenant activities.
  • Set guidelines for the verification of the right to occupancy as well as handle any precedents.

The board of directors selects four members for the housing division, two of whom must be tenant representatives. The board of directors selects the chairman of the division.

Tenants’ co-operation body

The tenants’ co-operation body acts as a link between Hoas and the tenants. The co-operation body offers tenants a way to have an impact on tenant activities and housing conditions. Central themes are communality, tenant activity, housing costs, property maintenance, the general conditions of the tenancy agreement, the rules and regulations in the property and other current matters.

The tenants are able to have their say on how funds are distributed to support tenant activity. What kind of events and other activity Hoas should support and how club rooms should be furnished and equipped.

In the co-operation body the tenants have an opportunity to develop student housing in the best direction they see fit. The co-operation body has been an advocate for international students and brought up issues regarding students’ income. The recommendations for developing the foundation’s operations given by the co-operation body are reported to the board of directors.

New act on joint administration on rental buildings came in effect 1st January 2024, and along with it came changes in the ways the tenants’ democracy is arranged.

Each tenant committee now has a representative in the co-operation body. Instead of a small group of active tenants, from now on all tenant committees can state their opinion. The goal of the new co-operation body is to increase tenants’ participation and possibilities to make a change, as well as improve the communication between Hoas and tenants, and create more open and communicative model for tenant democracy.

The principles and rules of tenants’ co-operation body are decided and worked on together with the representatives during 2024.
